Removal of flytipped waste

Background 

ODS provides a range of waste disposal at different sites for Merton College. The college located some fly tipping on their premises adjacent to Holywell Cemetery and requested our help.

Why ODS

ODS is a local one-stop-shop that can provide litter-picking services, hazardous and bulky waste and in recognition of that, they knew we would be able to clear the rubbish quickly. This also removes any procurement, or time spent looking for an adequate service provider.

Challenge

The rubbish was located in an awkward location and needed a special team to remove syringes and needles safely.

Solution

The commercial waste team worked closely with Streetscene to send in litter pickers with the appropriate PPE and equipment to first remove the hazardous waste and then the rest. Everything was then disposed appropriately and legally.
