Westgate remedial works

Client: Laing O’Rourke
Project: Westgate remedial works
Date of completion: April 2021
Value: £325,000

Background:

Main Contractor, Laing O’Rourke, engaged ODS to carry out s278 works in areas around the development including – Bonn Square, Old Grey Friars Street, and Queen Street.

Solution:

Our highly skilled and experienced Highways and Engineering team delivered various remedial works including:

  • resurfacing
  • drainage – including ACO channels, CCTV reports for drainage
  • line marking, Bus Stops
  • manholes/gullies installations and making level
  • paving (including specialist paving)
  • benches, cycle racks, grouting, bedding and landscaping

Why ODS:

Our understanding of Government Section agreements and relationship with Oxford County Council meant that we were able to quickly and smoothly arrange Traffic Management Plans and applications for road closures.

As ODS are wholly owned by Oxford City Council we were also in an ideal position to advise on the process for highways to be adopted back to Oxfordshire County Council on final completion.

Feedback:

“All works were carried out right first time, in an efficient and professional manner. ODS are well versed in the processes of working within Oxford and the stakeholders with whom strong relationships and interest need to be protected.” - Chris Rafferty, Project Director, Laing O’Rourke Construction
