EV Charge points installation

EV Charge points installation

Client: M&M Zero
Project:  Installation of 4 22kw EV charge points
Department: Fleet and Electric Vehicles
Date of completion: August 2021

Background

ODS were contracted to carry out all the groundworks installation of four 22kw charging points for Oxfordshire-based waste management specialists M&M Zero in support of their newly launched zero emissions waste collection service.

Why ODS

As well as an existing relationship through previous successfully completed groundworks for the client, M&M Zero were aware of ODS’ experience in the installation of EV infrastructure in homes and on the highway, delivering several projects for Oxford City Council and private customers. M&M Zero therefore approached ODS with the trust and confidence we would manage this project end to end.

Challenge

Oxfordshire County Council and Oxford City Council are introducing a Zero Emission Zone (ZEZ) in Oxford to improve air quality, cut carbon emissions, and move towards zero emission travel in the city. With an emphasis on minimising environmental impact while still offering a first class service for their clients, it was important for M&M Zero to have on-site access to electric vehicle charge points to ensure their new fleet of customised zero emission vehicles could be charged quickly and always be available.

Solution

ODS designed, managed and installed 6 bay design including 4 Business Lines (22KW AC) chargers. Ground works included installation duct lines for each charger, and a kerbed island to be used as a bump control for vans and cars.

Feedback

"To ensure that the launch of our Zero Emission waste collection service using 100% electric vans was a success we chose to use ODS as our installation and service partner. From the initial concept meeting to mobilisation, groundworks, civils, electrical connections, installation, commissioning and service, the ODS team delivered everything on time and in specification. They exceeded our expectations with their technical knowledge and project management skills, overcoming every challenge to ensure that we met our launch day target. They also ensured that our people had the training to manage the system going forward. We will have no hesitation to continue our partnership with ODS as our service expands throughout Oxfordshire and the surrounding Counties”
