Hazardous waste

ODS offers a fully accredited and approved hazardous waste service for all items that cannot be recycled or be put into general waste bins, such as solvents, paints and bulbs as they can cause harm to humans or the environment.

We can collect and dispose of your business’ hazardous waste safely and securely using the appropriate storage containers. You will be given a ‘waste transfer’ certificate so your business will be fully compliant with waste disposal regulations.

Collections are available six days a week, Monday to Saturday, dependent on location.

What is Hazardous Waste?

  • Aerosols
  • Asbestos
  • Batteries
  • Bulbs and fluorescent tubes
  • Cleaning agents
  • Chemicals, such as brake fluid or print toner
  • Electrical devices
  • Oils (excluding food oil)
  • Paints
  • Pesticides
  • Solvents.

Hazardous waste containers

ODS can supply a range of containers for small items up to large Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs), dependent on the kind of waste, so you can make sure your hazardous items are stored safely.

Hazardous waste can only be removed by an approved waste carrier such as ODS. In fact, it is a criminal offence if something ‘hazardous’ is put into a general waste collection.

How we dispose of Hazardous Waste

Your hazardous waste is taken to appropriate disposal facilities in accordance with UK laws. The waste will then be disposed of safely and securely, including via incineration at an Energy Recovery Facility (ERF). The heat energy produced will then be converted into electricity and used to power local housing.
