Find others like it:

Client: Oxfordshire County Council / Sandhills Primary School

Budget: £19,500

Department: Highways and Engineering (Infrastructure Solutions)

Completed: August 2025

Summary

The ODS Highways & Engineering Team were approached by Oxfordshire County Council to renovate the bicycle shelter at Sandhills Primary School as part of their School Streets project.

The bicycle shelter was old and brittle and had been vandalised so was in need of repair.

Requirements

The team had to safely remove the old broken panels.

The shelter frame needed rubbing down in preparation for painting.

Once dry, the new panels were fitted.

Challenges

  1. The work was being carried out at a school, so needed to be carried out when no pupils were on site.

  2. The size of the new glass panels presented a challenge in transporting them to the school site.

Solutions

The work was scheduled in to take place during the school summer holidays as no pupils would be on site.

The new panels were delivered directly to the school site by the supplier.

Results

The new bicycle shelter was installed, ready for the new school year.

Client Testimonial

"ODS were great to work with. They joined me in a site visit to assess the bike storage which needed to be repaired. The dates for the repairs were arranged directly with the school to ensure it was completed outside of term time. The headteacher has confirmed they are very happy with the repairs and pupils are now enjoying their newly refurbished bike storage. I would be happy to work with ODS in the future."
