Water Eaton toucan crossing
Client: Oxfordshire County Council
Project: Installation of a Toucan crossing to service Oxford Parkway Rail Station
Department: Highways & Engineering
Date of completion: September 2017
Budget: £160k
Client
Oxfordshire County Council is the county council, or upper-tier local authority, for the non-metropolitan county of Oxfordshire.
Requirement
Oxford Parkway railway station is located at Water Eaton, Oxfordshire. The junction to the railway station on a major arterial road into the city was dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists and it was decided to install a toucan crossing. Due to the significant traffic on this stretch of road, works needed to be completed during off peak hours and to a tight timescale.
Solution
Works were completed by ODS’ team of highly skilled and trained operatives during off-peak hours to reduce the amount of disruption to road users.
Results
The installation of the toucan crossing was completed within the expected time frame to a high standard and with minimum disruption to road users.
