ODS staff brave arctic all-nighters to protect Oxford from flooding
Highways and Engineering operatives Charlie Norton, Jose Taboada, Nick Glynn, Simon Andrews, Phil Bradford, Scott Thompson, Martin Smith, and Ray Harris have received some well-earned recognition for protecting Oxford from winter flooding.
The team installed an essential flood barrier at Bullstake Close last week and were on rota to ensure the defences were manned 24-hours-a-day, in some of the coldest weather the UK has ever experienced.
Kevin Singleton, Senior Contracts Manager, said: “No matter what time of day or night these guys are there to help, changing work patterns at the drop of the hat to make sure Oxford is protected from flooding. They really are unsung heroes.”
