Food waste collection in Oxford
ODS offers an affordable food waste collection service across Oxford for restaurants, catering companies, and other businesses producing animal by-product waste, which must be recycled by law. We are also one of the only commercial companies to weigh food waste bins, rather than just estimating weights.
Collections take place between Monday and Saturday, depending on your location, and we can supply a range of containers to suit your requirements:
Wheeled bins (200 litre)
Sacks (7 kg)
Caddies (35 litre).
What happens to your food waste?
We collect six tonnes of food waste a day across the city. 100% of this waste is taken to a local Anaerobic Digestion (AD) facility to be processed.
The food waste and other organic materials are broken down by microorganisms using a series of biodomes to produce biogas and liquid fertiliser. The biogas is then used to generate up to 2.1 MWe energy for the National Grid, and the fertiliser is used to nourish up to 137m3 per day of local farmland.
